On the rare occurrence that an employee is killed on the job or dies from the complications of a work-related injury, then there are some benefits available for his or her dependents.  Dependents are usually a surviving spouse and minor children, but sometimes can include others who were provided support from the deceased employee.  Death benefits include monetary amounts divided among the dependents and a burial expense.
